This is an exceptional carved Sugilite pendant. The stone is from the Wessels mine in South Africa. There is a carving of a Ganesh on one side and a deer or stag on the other side. The carving was done by Ronald Stevens. The Sugilite is a very “hot” pink color and there is some very metallic Manganese as well. The stone itself measures 3.9cm x 3.6cm x 1cm. The pendant weighs 18.1 grams. Several of the photos were taken outside in sunlight. I also used a bright, full-spectrum (daylight) light bulb to show the translucency.
